Summer Programs

We don’t need to go far to learn that it’s a jungle out there! This week we’ll take a close look at the world right outside our doors- from bees to ladybugs, butterflies to birds. We’ll learn about life cycles of creatures big and small and play some animal themed games. A walking field trip to the T.S. Robert’s Bird Sanctuary by Lake Harriet will allow campers to observe with all their senses. 

Cost $375/student/week. Program runs from 9am-4pm. Extended Day care offered from 4-5pm for an additional $60/student/week.
 

There’s nothing like rainbows to spark summertime spirit! This week we’ll immerse ourselves in rainbow themed science and art activities while also learning about the history of Pride month. Campers will explore the rainbow of identities they hold while celebrating our beautiful and diverse community. 

Cost $375/student/week. Program runs from 9am-4pm. Extended Day care offered from 4-5pm for an additional $60/student/week.
 

If your child loves to perform, this is the week for them! We’ll have several special guests come share their artistic passions throughout the week while campers learn improv games, create masks, build puppets, and make music. At the end of the week, see it all come together as part of a very special performance for families and caregivers.

Picasso once said that every child is born an artist and this week we’ll be exploring different mediums so campers can express their creativity and brilliance. We’ll experiment with different styles by learning about artists like Yayoi Kusama, Frida Kahlo and Alma Thomas and take the city bus to the Walker Sculpture Garden for a picnic.

This week will feel like one big camping trip. We’ll pitch tents and have picnics, go on nature scavenger hunts and learn to tie different kinds of knots. One day campers may learn about tracking animals or using a compass and another could be spent fishing at Lake Harriet. Games and art activities will all be outside (weather permitting).

The bounty of summertime is upon us! This week campers will learn about gardening and farming and spend time in the kitchen concocting recipes that use fresh, locally grown ingredients. We’ll talk about growing cycles and visit a local market to talk with folks that grow our food. Of course, a good farmer’s market isn’t complete without plenty of artisan wares so we’ll be exploring some new arts and craft techniques, too!

Campers will have a blast creating and launching bottle rockets, learning about the cosmos and doing space-themed art activities. We’ll also have fun doing science experiments and making paper mache planets. The highlight of the week will be a special visit from the Bell Museum’s Explore-a-Dome so we can take in the stars.

Good storytelling is an art and this week campers will hone their skills by creating characters and adventures of their own. We’ll play games and read books that spark our imaginations and talk about real-life superheroes right in our community. Campers will end the week by dressing up like their favorite superhero!
