Shelves of many books with a little seating area

Family Hours
8:30 - 9:00 AM M-F
4:00 - 5:00 PM T/TH

The Lake Country School library, known internally as the Research Center, is a resource for students and parents/caregivers alike! Lake Country students are great researchers, so we call our facility that functions as a library the Research Center to emphasize its place in the school.

The school library has over ten thousand books and offers students literary activities and access to a wide variety of digital resources and databases. Students may also check out Chromebooks and other audio-visual equipment. In addition, the RC offers a lending library of Montessori and other child development resources for adults.

Toddler Story Hour
Wednesdays
9:10 - 10:00 AM
Open to the Public
The Research Center also hosts a weekly toddler story time where families with children under the age of three are invited to listen to stories and participate in fun activities led by our Research Center Coordinator. All families, regardless of their current affiliation or connection to Lake Country, are welcome.

We strongly encourage every student to have a local library card in order to access digital databases. For the Hennepin County Library card application, click here.

The Research Center is a key component in our commitment to anti-bias anti-racist (ABAR) pedagogy. We strive to provide resources that, in the words of Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop, are "windows, mirrors, and sliding glass doors" for children to see themselves and others.

Our RC Catalog is accessible by clicking the button on the right. Once you are there, click on Lake Country School. In the left column, click on Catalog. From there, you may use "Library Search" to view our complete catalog, or "Resource List" to view suggested titles by category.

RC BlogBelow you will find recent posts from our RC Blog. This blog, written by our RC Coordinator, discusses what's going on in the RC, book recommendations, heritage month info, and so much more!

Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

In our May rotation of Heritage months, this year we are acknowledging AAPI Heritage month with a focus on Native Hawaiians.  Book baskets will be distributed among the levels of the school and older students will have the opportunity to watch some short videos as well.  Here is the list of books if you are interested, and if you have a personal connection to Hawaiian heritage, please reach out - we love to highlight community stories and connections.  And if you're looking for more, here is another great booklist of books for all ages to celebrate AAPI month from Teach AAPI.   Happy reading!

My Favorite Holiday - Independent Bookstore Day on Saturday!

Independent Bookstore Day is on Saturday!  Share some love with local bookstores this weekend and maybe even visit a new one.  "The Thinking Spot" is an amazing science bookstore in Minnetonka, and of course "The Wild Rumpus" and "The Red Balloon" are fantastic bookstores for children - and those are just a few of my favorites. You can pick up a passport from a local bookstore as early as Wednesday and get it stamped at each bookstore you visit, good for future discounts.  I'll be out and about on Saturday - hope to see you!

It's National Poetry Month!

Book baskets featuring some of Lake Country's awesome poetry collection were distributed to levels yesterday.  If you're not in the habit of reading poetry with your family, I encourage you to come up to the RC for a poetry collection or anthology.  We have "classics", new poetry, silly poetry, poetry for kids, nature poetry, poetry in translation - you name it.  April is also a great time to try reading a "novel in verse", and I have MANY spanning a wide range of themes and age ranges.  I hope to see you in the RC this April for some poetry!

Be In Touch!
