Athletics & Clubs

Athletics

Lake Country School offers a variety of mission-forward athletic options. LCS athletics are grounded in our value of collaboration, where students are led to respect themselves, each other, and the team as a whole.

The Montessori model at LCS prioritizes the development of motor skills, body awareness, and social-emotional responsibility. Similarly, the LCS athletics encourages teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal health, planting the seeds for lifelong habits of physical movement and wellness.

League Athletics

LCS has a variety of athletic options, including teams that compete within the League of Independent School Teams (LIST). LIST is a consortium of private and charter schools that organize co-ed sports , specifically for middle schools in the Twin Cities, including:

  • Cross Country (fall)
  • Basketball (winter)
  • Volleyball (spring)

LCS students are given the equipment, instruction, and techniques to pursue the sport of their choosing.

Non-League Athletics

LCS students also have the opportunity to participate in several non-league athletics, meaning that there are regular team practices, but no official meets or games.

  • Floor Hockey (winter)
  • Badminton (spring)
  • Archery (spring)
