Ways To Engage

The Land School provides the LCS community with opportunities to develop a lasting connection with the land.
All School Community Events
Through joyful traditions and shared work, the broader community becomes an active part of the Land School’s living ecosystem. Gatherings such as the Harvest Festival, Garlic Festival, Festival de Maiz, camping weekends, and planting and harvesting days all serve as opportunities to strengthen connections between students, families, and the natural world, turning the farm into a shared space of celebration, collaboration, and stewardship.
Farmers Market
The Farmers Market at the Urban Campus invites families and neighbors to purchase fresh produce harvested by the Land School staff, students, and families, creating a meaningful relationship between the students’ work and their home lives and local community.
Seed Library
Students collect, save, and catalog seeds from crops grown at the Land School, contributing to a growing Seed Library that serves both the school and the broader community. Community members are invited to “check out” seeds, plant them at home, and return new seeds to keep the cycle going. Click here for more information on the Seed Library.
Plant Sale
Each spring, staff and students propagate hundreds of plants from seed to sprout—then host a community plant sale at the Urban Campus that is open to families, alumni, and community members. Herbs, flowers, vegetables, and native species are sold with pride, and the proceeds benefit the school’s Annual Fund.
Volunteer
The Land School relies on volunteers throughout the year to help with Tuesday Markets (at the Urban Campus), Harvest Festival, Festival de Maiz, spring maple sap collection, summer garden work days, and other occasional special projects. We are also proud to maintain a strong network of alumni volunteers and visitors. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact landschool@lakecountryschool.org.
