Leadership Transition

In early 2026, Head of School Ben Moudry announced that the 2025–2026 school year will be his final year at Lake Country School. The LCS community has responded with deep gratitude for Ben’s steadfast commitment to our mission, our students, our families, and our faculty.
As we celebrate Ben and reflect on the school’s many accomplishments, we also look ahead with purpose and care. Grounded by our mission, and guided by Montessori principles that call us to nurture independence, curiosity, and responsibility, the Board of Trustees has begun a thoughtful leadership transition process.
The Board of Trustees holds responsibility for the selection of both an Interim Head of School and the next permanent Head of School. As part of this leadership transition, the Board of Trustees is supporting the creation of a dedicated academic leadership role as an investment in LCS’s academic and student support work alongside its operational functioning. In April 2026, Board leadership and the incoming Interim Head of School conducted listening sessions with LCS faculty and staff in order to ensure that the expanded leadership structure is responsive to the needs of students and staff and is accompanied by other forms of meaningful support.

Interim Head of School | Nancy Segreti

Nancy Segreti has agreed to serve LCS as Interim Head of School for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years. Nancy currently serves as the Senior Director of Advancement and Communications at LCS, after having most recently served as the Vice President of Growth and Enrollment at Groves Learning Organization. Over the course of her career, Nancy has taught in public school settings, supported educator training at the district level, and supported students and families navigating neurodiversity in individualized private settings. While Nancy joined Lake Country to lead our advancement work, she has served in a variety of key school leadership roles throughout her career, where she has focused on strategic visioning, program innovation, and leading teams of people with clarity and care. She is currently completing a Master’s degree in Education Policy and Leadership with a concentration in Social Justice, and in June she will complete AMI Montessori administrator training as part of her dedication to leading LCS through this interim period. When she is not at LCS, Nancy is spending time with her wife and two young children and is a self proclaimed “manager of chaos” at home. She can be found energizing herself with moments of silence and peace on a run around the Minneapolis lakes. The Board of Trustees has full confidence that Nancy’s humility, clarity of purpose, and dedication to the LCS mission will guide the community with care and intention during this important period.
I am honored to lead LCS through this interim period
and bring deep enthusiasm and commitment to an environment
rooted in a Montessori education that nurtures independence,
creativity, and critical thinking in every child. In today’s complex
world, we are called, more than ever, to guide children toward
becoming thoughtful, compassionate global citizens.
I see the impact of this work each day in our community and
know that, together, we are shaping a more peaceful and just future.Nancy Segreti

Focus of the Interim Period
During the two-year interim period, Nancy will lead the school in three key areas:
- Solidifying a more robust academic leadership structure that ensures strong Montessori programming and deepens our approaches to student support
- Nurturing staff culture
- Providing strategic direction to advancement and communications
The Board will collaborate with Nancy in these efforts and proceed thoughtfully with strategic planning and the identification of a permanent Head of School.
Interim Period and Permanent Head of School Search Timeline
The Board of Trustees has intentionally established a two-year interim period to enable the school to first place its focus on creating roles for dedicated academic leadership and student support, and then to allow for a deliberate and inclusive search process for the next permanent Head of School. This timeline provides space for reflection, community engagement, and strategic alignment with LCS’s future goals.
As decisions are made regarding the updated leadership structure, search timeline, possible partner organization, committee structure, and overall process, updates will be shared on this page and through regular community communications.
