The LCS Spirit
Lake Country is an authentic and respectful community of adults and children working together in beautiful Montessori environments that are designed to allow children the freedom to explore a wide variety of interests and passions. Lake Country is a joyful, peaceful, challenging, nurturing, exciting place to grow.
Our school is characterized by a profound belief in children. Absorbing language, traditions, and behavior from their environments, children are continuously constructing themselves socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.

Accreditation and Membership
Lake Country School is a fully accredited member of the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS). In addition, LCS is a member of the Minnesota Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) and the Minnesota Montessori Network.
All of our Montessori Guides, as well as many administrators and staff, hold teaching diplomas from, participate in, and are members of AMI (Association Montessori Internationale).
Peace Site
Lake Country School is a registered Peace Site, dedicated to the promotion of a peaceful and healthy world.

Dual Campus
Our dual-campus model aligns seamlessly with Montessori principles—particularly the emphasis on self-directed, nature-based learning—while also appealing to modern families who prioritize environmental values, balanced screen time, mental health, and experiential learning.
All LCS students attend school at our Minneapolis campus, as well as have the opportunity to visit our Rural Campus, the Land School, throughout the year in various capacities.
Urban Campus
Nestled in the Kingfield neighborhood of South Minneapolis is where you will find our Urban Campus, home to our Children's House, Elementary, and Junior High classrooms.
Rural Campus
Our Rural Campus, the Land School, was founded in 1996 on 160 acres in Dunn County, Wisconsin as an extension of our program, offering a unique environment for agricultural education.
