Extended Day
Extended Day Policy
For the safety of students, they may not be unsupervised on school property prior to 8:50 am or after 4:10 pm. Lake Country offers three Extended Day Programs: Children’s House Midday for 3-4 year olds (MED), Children’s House extended day for 3-6 year olds (CHED), and Elementary extended day for 6-12 year olds (EED). Junior High students are not eligible for extended day but may work in their classrooms with permission, before or after school. Any child on LCS property not being directly supervised by a parent (with the exception of Junior High students) will be asked to join Extended Day.
Registration for extended day services can be done by contract for the time needed and billed monthly or, in the case of EED, non-contracted students are accepted with or without prior notice. Contracts may be adjusted on a monthly basis throughout the year to reflect family scheduling needs. Midday offers partial or full-week registration by contract and is limited to 20 children per day. All extended day services end at 6:00 pm, and children should be picked up by that time. Parents who repeatedly pick up their children after the 6:00 pm deadline may be asked to discontinue use of the CHED and EED Programming.
Extended Day Programs
Midday
Hours: 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Ages: 3-4 year oldsThis program is offered for 3-4 year olds who need afternoon care. Following their morning and lunch in their Children’s House classrooms, Midday children move to the Midday area, which offers age-appropriate activities that mirror or support the Montessori environments. Napping is available for those children who need rest.
Children’s House Extended Day
Hours: 7:30 am – 9:00 am and 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Ages: 3-6 year oldsCHED takes place in the Midday area of Children’s House with access to the side play lot for outdoor activities.
Elementary Extended Day
Hours: 7:30 am – 9:00 am and 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Ages: 6-12 year oldsEED takes place in the cafeteria with access to the front and back play lots as well as the gym for large motor activities. Both contracted and non-contracted children are welcome at any time, without prior notice.
