As always, we invite the entire Lake Country community—whether or not you are a Community garden member—to visit the Land School anytime simply to enjoy the property. Children of all ages are welcome. Come for the day or stay overnight, either camping out or sleeping in the Homestead dormitories. We hope you will think of the Land School as your place in the country.

This year, we are pleased to offer these Land School opportunities for children and their families: Overnight Visits, E2 Farm Camp, and Junior High Farm Apprenticeships. Please see below for additional details, including dates and fees.

OVERNIGHT VISITS

When you come to the Land School to work in the Community Garden, consider spending the night with your family. You can bring your tent and pitch it in one of several perfect spots. You can also reserve one or more of the Homestead dormitory rooms, based on availability. Please call ahead to check the availability of both options.

FEES (PER NIGHT, PER FAMILY):
Camping: $5     Homestead: $25

E2 FARM CAMP
TUESDAY, JULY 19–SATURDAY, JULY 23

Based on last summer’s successful program, we will again offer E2 Farm Camp. The camp is available to up to 10 children who will be in E2 (grades 4–6) as of the 2011–12 school year. The cost of the camp covers food and lodging, supervision, programming and transportation to the Land School. (We presume families will want to attend our annual Garlic Festival, which takes place on the final day of camp, and campers will return with families.)

FEE: $300 per student

We will offer four sessions for apprentices. Each apprenticeship is available to up to four students who will be in Junior High (grades 7–9) as of the 2011–12 school year. They are responsible for bringing food from home for breakfast and dinner, which they can prepare in the Homestead kitchen. A substantial midday meal will be provided by the Land School. The fee covers the cost of food, lodging and supervision. Students will receive a stipend for their work. Space is limited.
