INTRODUCTION

LCS calendars are published in iCal (.ics) format. You can either subscribe to the calendars or view them as web pages. To subscribe, you need either a Macintosh computer with iCal, or a PC with a compatible program, such as Microsoft Outlook 2007 or Mozilla Sunbird (the latter is a free download). You can also subscribe to them with Google Calendar on any computer – Mac or PC – with a web browser. If you subscribe to the calendars, you can also create your own calendars and view them simultaneously with the school calendars.

If instead you view the calendars as web pages, you can choose day, week, or month view; in month view, a list of all the events for the month appears below the regular calendar layout.

 

SUBSCRIBING TO THE CALENDARS

Subscribing with iCal (Macintosh):

Simply click on any of the links below. Be sure to set auto-refresh so that it updates the calendars at least once per day so that you receive updates.

Alternative instructions for subscribing with iCal:

  1. From within iCal, choose Subscribe from the Calendar menu at the top of the screen.
  2. Copy and paste (or type) the URL (listed below) for the desired calendar and click Subscribe.
  3. iCal will then download the calendar and bring you to a screen which allows you to give a title to that calendar. Be sure to set auto-refresh to update the calendar on a daily basis.

Subscribing with Microsoft Outlook 2007 (Windows):

  1. In Outlook 2007 Go to the Tools menu and click on Account Settings.
  2. In the Internet Calendars tab click on New.
  3. Copy and paste (or type) the URL (listed below) for the desired calendar and click Add.
  4. Type the name of the calendar as you want it to appear in Outlook in the Folder Name box and then click OK. The calendar will be listed under "Other Calendars" with the name you chose.

Subscribing with Google Calendar (any computer with a web browser):

  1. Sign in to your Google Calendar account. If you don't already have one, you can create one for free at www.google.com/calendar.
  2. Click on Add below the list of calendars, and select ADD by URL.
  3. Copy and paste (or type) the URL (listed below) for the desired calendar.
  4. Click Add.

Whether you use a Mac or a PC, using Google Calendar will enable you not only to subscribe to the school's calendars, but also to create your own calendars that can be viewed simultaneously on any computer that has web access; you can also share your calendars with other Google Calendar and iCal users. You can also do this with iCal, but it requires a MobileMe account, which entails an annual fee.

VIEWING THE CALENDARS AS WEB PAGES

Click on any of the links below to view the calendar, which will open in a new window. You can choose between day, week, or month view.

Click on any event for further information. Some days have more events than can be shown in month view, in which case a "+" sign will appear in the lower right corner of the day. Clicking on the + will switch you to day view in which all the events for the day can be seen.

You can set the default view to day, week, or month by clicking on Preferences (on the left below the mini calendars). In month view, a list of all the events for the month appears at the bottom of the page.
