Returning parents please note: all calendars from the 2006-2007 school year have been discontinued. If you you subscribed to any of those calendars, please delete them and subscribe to the new calendars as described below. This change was made to simplify our calendar structure. LCS calendars for the 2007-2008 school year are published in iCal format. This allows you to either subscribe to the calendars, or view them as traditional web pages. To subscribe to them, you need either a Macintosh computer running iCal, or a PC running a compatible program (such as Mozilla Sunbird). You can also subscribe to them on either a Mac or a PC using the Google calendar program. If you use a program to subscribe to the calendars, you can also create your own calendars and view them concurrently with the school calendar.
If you choose instead to view the calendars as traditional web pages, you can choose day, week, or month view; in month view, a list of all the events for the month appears below the regular calendar layout.
If you have a Macintosh computer (OS X required), it is easy to subscribe to the calendars using iCal - simply click on any of the links below. Be sure to check the "refresh" box so that you receive any changes that are made (refreshing once a day is normally sufficient).
If you are using a Windows PC, you can use any program that allows you to subscribe to calendars in the iCal format, such as Mozilla Sunbird (a free download) and Google Calendar (requires setting up a free Google account). To subscribe using such a program, you will probably need to copy and paste the URL of each calendar to which you wish to subscribe into the program. (In Google Calendar, go to Manage calendars; go to the Calendar tab and under Other Calendars click on Add calendar; click on Public Calendar Address, paste the URL and click Add; make sure the box next to the calendar name is checked in order to view it. Whether you use a Mac or a PC, using Google Calendar will enable you not only to subscribe to the school's calendars (as described above), but also to create your own calendars that can be viewed concurrently on any computer that has web access; you can also share your calendars with other Google Calendar and iCal users. You can also do this with iCal, but it requires a .Mac account (which entails an annual fee).
Parent Calendar - this calendar lists events pertaining to parents, students and the LCS community, as well as school holidays and board and committee events, but does not list Great Gatherings (URL = webcal://ical.mac.com/lakecountryschool/LCS%20Parent%20Calendar.ics)
Great Gathering Calendar - lists Great Gatherings only (URL = webcal://ical.mac.com/lakecountryschool/Great%20Gatherings.ics)
School Calendar - combines the above Parent and Great Gathering calendars (URL = webcal://ical.mac.com/lakecountryschool/LCS%20School%20Calendar.ics)
VIEWING THE CALENDARS AS WEB PAGES
Click on any of the links below to view the corresponding calendar, which will open in a new window. You can choose between day, week, or month view (you can set a default by clicking on preferences).
Click on any event for further information. Some days have more events than can be shown in month view, in which case a "+" sign will appear in the lower right corner of the day. Clicking on the + will switch you to day view in which all the events for the day can be seen.
