Steps in Our Admissions Proccess
|
1.
|
We ask interested parents to make an appointment to visit the school. Beginning at the end of October, we host school visits for parents (without their children) most Thursday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The visit begins with a tour of the school and three thirty-minute observations in classes that are in session. During the last hour you are invited to meet with Principal Paulette Zoë, classroom teachers and the Admissions Director Lucinda Anderson. This meeting is a wonderful, informal opportunity to learn more about the school and to ask questions you have concerning the program.

You are also invited to attend the Admissions Information Evening held each year in the fall.

When the decision to apply has been made, complete an application form and send it to the school with a non-refundable $75.00 application fee (this fee is waived for financial assistance applicants). Applications for the 2008-09 school year must be received before 5 p.m., February 1, 2008.

|
Tuition Assistance applications are available after January 1 in the school office. Tuition Assistance applications, including a copy of your 2007 IRS 1040, are also due by February 15, 2008, before 5 p.m. Applications received after that date will be considered after the first round of admission decisions is made.

Interview Process:
- If you applied for a Children's House position, your child will be observed by our teaching staff on Friday, March 7, 2008. We conduct a group visit for Children's House applicants and their parents. The children will work with a group of peers and teachers for a period of 1 1/2 hours while parents attend an information session with staff.
- If you applied for the elementary or junior high program, the student may be invited to spend a day in a classroom. The parent is not expected to attend this session but may meet with staff.

|
Parents of each elementary and junior high level candidate will be asked to sign a record release form and to deliver it to their child's current school office. This authorizes your child's present school to send us a copy of the school records. Additionally, parents will be asked to deliver a student evaluation form to their child's current teacher.

Admissions decisions are made by administration and teaching staff. These decisions are based on an evaluation of the child's school visit, school transcripts, and the needs of existing classes. For the 2008-2009 school year, parents will be contacted regarding our admission decision by April 10, 2008. If a position is offered to your child at this time, a nonrefundable $500 tuition deposit will be due. Upon receipt of a tuition deposit, we will hold a place for your child in our program and you will be contractually obligated for the year's tuition. The school will forgive tuition after a withdrawal only if we are able to replace the student with an equivalent applicant from our waiting list.

If a place is not immediately available and you wish to be placed in our wait group, please notify the Admissions Office. We occasionally experience drops through the summer and urge parents to remain in the wait group. In the fall if a place is still not available and you wish to remain in the wait group, please notify the Admissions Office again. The $75.00 application fee need be paid only once.
